I was told that the Kappa (protein) in my urine is due to my kidney damage by the larger albumin moleculres. So basically the Kappa spills through with the larger molecules.
Kappa light chains, when in high levels on a blood test, are a blood irregularity in people with MGUS or other blood disorders. The Kappa or Gamma light chains can cause kidney damage when you have more than a normal amount. You'll need to see a hematologist if your blood or urine levels for Kappa/Gamma light chains are high. Ask for a referral. Then the Hem and your Neph can decide on the best course of treatment for you.
