Anyone with Lupus Nephritis and protein in the urine... Just wondering how long and if the protein levels ever normalized for you?. I have been reading some research that it can take years. My brother w class 5 LN started at 8 g daily, down to 1.6 after 11 months of treatment.

Sorry for jumping in I have no knowledge or experience to offer but I do have a question you may be able to help me with. I just had acute renal failure and this is all new to me the thing that sticks out for me is the doctor says my CK level is 48000 I think he is referring to createnine it is muscle break down. He took a biopsy from my quad and I am waiting for the results.
I guess my question is in your experience is this normal in Lupus? I would never hold you to anything I am only trying to learn about possibilities and how I can change to mitigate future issues.
Thanks Justin
They are referring to creatinine kinase- found in skeletal muscle as well as brain and heart.. It is released in the blood when your muscles break down. having this build up in your blood can cause acute renal failure but usually is not an indicator of Lupus i don't think. As I understand, this can happen after strenuous activity or sometimes medications- like statins. as the muscles heal, the acute renal injury typically resolves. Hope this helps!
Hi Kate, I have SLE and am now on dialysis. I dont know my exact protein levels but assume that they are higher than normal.
