Hi CrazyLady. Please note that one can start the process to be placed on the kidney transplant list when egfr is 15 or less. Hence, you may be able to get a transplant and avoid dialysis completely. Sadly, my husband didn't look forward as his numbers diminished and is now on dialysis. Sending positive thoughts your way.
Thank you for your information. It is my understanding that each hospital has different criteria for being on a transplant list. Due to my weight and underlined Heath conditions I am not a good candidate for transplant. I do not want to be on dialysis so I know my time is limited. I’m okay with that I’m not afraid of death I know what the other side holds for me so I am not afraid to die.
When anyone of sound mind has considered all aspects of their health situation, I will always respect their decision going forward. Peace.
HI Crazy Lady, I too am a large person and I am in the process of looking at transplant. Yes, I have heard that my BMI is too high. BUT...there are locations in the USA who do robotic placement that do take a higher BMI. Talk to someone professional as you might be surprised. Also Google kidney transplant with higher BMI. Don't throw in the towel until you have really looked at all the information.
In the UK, 3a is the one your GP ignores in the UK. Deadly mistake, but they don't care.
In USA, 3a and 3b are called 3
