Anyone out there with an auto immune disease that resulted in acute renal failure had any renewal or seen an increased kidney function over recovery time. If so , how many months after diagnosis. I have had another vasculitis flare up and back on a shed load of steroids. I'm now having a 2nd session rituximab and seen less urine flow which means I'm now on more fluid restriction. I'm hoping it's the meds.
I have read that some Wenger's disease sufferers can see some or all kidney function restored over 6 plus months of renal failure.

Hi! Welcome. I was diagnosed with Sjogrens disease ( an autoimmune condition) and FSGS and MN at the same time, last June. Sjogrens is a systemic disease, and caused the kidney diseases. I am stage 3a CKD. The doctors put me on steroids immediately, and I had my first 2 rituximab infusions in August. They told me it would be 6 months after the infusions before there could be improvements. But also told me the expectation was that I would need infusions for 2+ years. My condition is rare, and there is no data to see a prognosis. I think they're just throwing everything they can at me right now, and hoping it will work. Good luck !
Thanks for replying. It's been a bit of a nightmare tbh, especially getting the disease and losing once healthy kidneys within a week of the disease being triggered. I believe my condition was underlying undiagnosed and triggered by an allergic reaction to Doxycycline (anti biotic). I was hopeful of getting some function back, but as time goes on and kidney transplant is mentioned more often that hope is fading. I keep looking for miracle stories. I did listen in to a conversation when I as first in hospital whereby someone who had an auto immune disease got full kidny function back after 12 months. and a nurse working at the kidney dialysis centre who has a friend in Canada with Wegners disease got function back, but I haven't been able to find any others. I'm trying to cope with this but with the the covid restrictions closing my small business and now having financial problems I'm finding it increasingly depressing and starting to grieve for my once good health. A bit of a whinge I know . I guess you too must be going through a horrible time too.
