Hello apopnj01! Although I can’t say that I’ve ever been diagnosed with a cyst on my kidneys, I have had aches on both sides of my back that sometimes would begin as a dull ache, but then become a little sharper. But honestly, I’ve not been as dedicated in addressing my kidney issues as I probably should be. I can say though, that those pains just come and go with me, and I’ve never really been able to attribute it to anything in particular, so what I assume is that it all just falls under the CKD umbrella. It’s just my kidneys in distress, I imagine. I wish I could be a little more helpful. I’m somewhat ashamed that I haven’t been as attentive as the others here! Lol! Has your medical team mentioned what kind of treatment they plan to administer to relieve your pain, or have they provided you with any advice on how you should handle this? Please let us know. I certainly hope that this is easily treatable. All the best to you, dear, and God bless! 😊
Thank you - just got results - hopefully they can do away with the cyst and pain goes away - we will see this week but my pain is the same as yours - comes and goes and at night it is a little sharper -i all my tests have come back negative including blood test but only creatinin 1.5 and gfr 53 - hopefully is cyst goes away the gfr will increase but the dr has not put me on any special diet - he doesnt see to worry .. for now but i do watch what i eat- maybe you should address those pains and if they are cysts have them removed
I was diagnosed in 1980 with CKD due to focal segmental glomerular sclerosis and received a transplant in 2003. My CT Showed and still shows a cyst on my left kidney. I’m out of town and don’t have access to the size, but over the years, my recollection is that it has remained fairly constant. This cyst has not been a problem for me in this journey. I have not experienced pain due to this. My right side transplant area does sometimes ache even after 17 years, but I have learned to be thankful for my reminder of my life-saving gift of life. My nephrologists over the years never communicated any reason to do more than watch the cyst and at age 79, I concur that this was the right path for me.
