Hello. In stage 3 kidney disease. Had surgery a month ago and recent labs showed a 7 point drop in GFR. Wondering if anyone else had a drop after surgery.

Hi Lala,

It is not unusual for the body to react after surgery including a drop in GFR. There can be many reasons why. I would not panic and see if through proper hydration and eating smart will bring it back up. Give your body time to heal. Let us know how you are doing.

Thank you for your reply. I am feeling well and noticed that I do need to hydrate a bit more. See my nephrologist in a couple days.

I had a drop in gfr after surgery....I was told it was from anesthisia...most of my gfr came back after a few months...

Refreshing to hear that. Before my surgery my gfr went up about 5 points. After surgery when back down. Kind of discouraging at first but just need to give my body time bounce back again.

Yep...anesthisia is hard for even good kidneys to clean out....just drink lots of water....
