I am a chronic diabetic for 30 years and have been taking Glynase mf morning 1 and night 1 and my sugar was almost under control.Recently I have been diagnosed as CKD 3rd stage and in spite of reducing salt and on kidney diet my creatinine level remains at 2.0 to 2.1 always. My nephrologist suggested to take istavel 50 mg morning 1 and night 1.but the sugar level is increasing very high and the Doctor told that though glynase mf controls sugar it will aggrevate kidney problem. What can I do.Already I had diabetic retinopathy and 15 lasers were done to both eyes and now eyes are OK I have a fear if due to intake of istavel if the BS increases my eye sight will be affected. I do not know which medicine to follow .Is it true that metformin increases kidney disease. I had my bypass surgery 25 years ago.I am taking BP tablet Amlong A one tablet in the morning. If I take glynase mf the reading will be fasting 90mg PP 150 to 160.If I take istavel 50 mg the reading will be fasting 160 and PP 230. What to do Kindly advise friends. For heart I am taking Ivarai kiran dil.Reg.heart now I am OK

We do not really have the expertise here to tell you what medications to take. You really need to have your healthcare team invest in your whole self and make sure any medication prescribed does not work against other organs such as the kidney.
I was put on a "new" diabetic medication about three years ago. My sugar was sort of stable but was higher than it should have been. So the doc took me off of Januvia and put me on Tragenta. Holy smokes. My levels were from 300 to 400 after eating and I was still being careful with what I ate. I kept telling him I wanted off the Tragenta medication and he said it took awhile for it to work and to wait. What happened was my CKD went from 3 to 4. I took myself off the med and went back on what I was on before. Since then, and now two years later, my glucose is coming way down to the point that I am weening myself off of the long lasting insulin. I was also able to lose weight with less medication. And that helps as well to lower my insulin resistance. My CKD stabilized. And I no longer see that doctor.
