Hi there.. I wonder if the ladies could share some experiences with regards to their symptoms at stage 5 CKD.my gfr is now down to 10..my phosphates are higher and potassium is raised too..I have noticed that my monthly period has stopped for the first time.this makes me quite anxious.is this a common symptom when your function declines?I'm 42 yrs old..many thanks.

Your symptoms interest me and I wonder about this al the time. I am in stage 4 and I didn’t have any problems until I hit menopause when my periods stopped. After that I went from 2-3-4 in a year. Nothing else with me had changed. I have always been fit. I always wondered if menopause has ever been looked into as having anything to do with this.

That is interesting. Looking back I seem to have gotten worse after menopause too or maybe it’s getting worse brings on menopause as I went thru it younger than most

Yes by all means tell your doctor about not getting your period. Any change with your body I would always tell my doctor. CKD really stresses out your body and I would guess that is the cause. Pre-transplant, I was going thru menopause, so can't speak from experience.

Thank you WYOAnne for your kind reply..I rang up the renal nurse and shes asked me to keep an eye on things..I.agree with you..once your bloods become out of range anything possible.i was told kidney issues can an bring on early menopause for some patients but they'd have to check hormones etc..abit scary..let's see..will keep everyone posted..
