A lesion is a term used to describe virtually any physical abnormality. A cyst is a more specific term. Some people have simple kidney cysts: kidney.org/atoz/content/sim... while others my have polycystic kidneys: kidney.org/atoz/content/pol...

Definitely follow up with your doctor for further testing and information on your specific concerns.
