Urine test

Hi All, my urine test shows leucocyte in urine and the value is 75 (in the range it shows 0-0), but my doctor said everything is normal. But when i see the normal ranges it says should be 0. I am not knowing what to do. Should i go and discuss with my doctor?? Please share ur thoughts and knowledge on this.

Im mainly worried about leucocytes in urine since i read if its present it means there is an infection. or even cancer But i dont have any infection or any other problem. I also just observed and cross checked my last year report it shows the same but my doctor havent told me anything

I don’t know much about any of this except u found the greatest site for help and encouragement! I am new to all of this too and I have asked a lot of questions. I have found (as they say on this site) that researching is so helpful but be careful all the “stuff” u read as it is not always the best for us. Depend on the pros. If not the right doctor, u have the right to change. Whatever is best for u! And depending on your tests u may want to ask about a nephrologist. I don’t know? Webmd.com and Davita kidney class online (I just signed up) is said to really help. Just know u aren’t alone and I will be praying for u.

thx. i would research and also consult the right doctor

Is the doctor you spoke to a Urologist? If not make an appointment to speak with one and get another opinion. It doesn't hurt and you have to be proactive when it comes to your health. Indecision and the unknown are the hardest things to deal with. Good luck.

Hi Wins,

You have all of my support in this confusing situation.

My thoughts, make an appointment with a nephrologist- although we are all different, check health grades and vitals as they can give you some patient reviews to help you.

See him/her and bring a copy of your labs as well as a notebook. Prepare questions and concerns and jot them down..as well as the answers that you receive.

If your present physician is not re-assuring and seems dismissive; advocate for yourself and seek another opinion, or two if you wish.

The nephrologist will have their own set of labs drawn to evaluate you from their perspective. If they feel tests are in order, they will order them.

Seeking another perspective will hopefully be able to explain what is going on and put your mind at ease.

Remember, that we are all here waiting to hear from you and will always respond.

Sending warm and good thoughts!

Bet

Don't know if this will help, but it does give much information: Leukocytes in the urine: Causes, symptoms, and diagnosis.

I agree with Mr. Kidney, I think a urologist is in order.

You say you do have an infection anywhere. Did they check you white blood cell count (WBC) in a blood test also? If that is up, it may indicate also infection. I would ask you Doctor for a better explanation as to the reading of 75 and if not forthcoming, see a urologist. If you do have an infection, leaving it untreated can cause more problems later on. Let us know how you make out.

Hi there. While not specifically ‘on topic’ here, I wanted to offer this: ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ask the questions you need answered. And ask until you understand and are satisfied. NEVER EVER think that questioning a doctor is disrespectful. Neither is obtaining 2nd opinions.

I’m not anti-doctors, just have finally learned to recognize the reality that I have to be very proactive and sometimes downright difficult in my pursuit of and demand for answers and plans.

Seek those answers. Knowledge is power!!
