Is anyone familiar with this ? I've had a mole removed on my lower arm. Even tho ive tried to be very careful and used neosporin and kept the area covered the removal area has become infected.
I told the nurse that i have 3rd stage kidney disease and she appeared to have entered it in my record. The doc prescribed Mupirocin which carries a warning about not using with kidney disease.
I decided to call the kidney doc but probably wont hear back until late tomorrow after ive used it several times but wonder what risk i might be taking.

As you know, Mupirocin is an antibiotic that is used topically (on the skin) for the treatment of impetigo, a bacterial disease of the skin caused by Staphylococcus aureus, beta-hemolytic streptococcus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Since it is topical, I'd be most surprised if it would be contraindicated for kidney patients. Let us know what your doctor says.
This is the post I was talking about. I'm really nervous using this ointment. I was unable to reach my dr or Nephrologist. I've been using a really tiny amount thus far.
