There have been a lot of questions about supplements, including Biotin. This article from the FDA mentions something about this issue and I felt it worthwhile enough to post it here for those who take Biotin and some considering it. Hope it helps.

Biotin and Lab Results
Thanks Mr_K. for your due-diligence and giving us another good article.
I'm returning my unopened bottle of Vit B stress formula which contains 300 mcg of biotin and doing a little more research on exactly which Vit B I need to use. Just another example of how multivitamins may not be the best thing for those of us with kidney disease and though it is more expensive to buy singular targeted vitamins rather than multi-versions containing things we don't need or want, it is worth it in the long run.
I just realized the other day that the Calcium I'm using has horsetail. Although it has been used for kidney stones and UTI, it is also not advisable long term nor for kidney patients. Again, there are opposite opinions on this as well, but I just want the calcium so better to not have the extras. umm.edu/health/medical/altm...
I agree. I take plain B12 and B6..no additives.
Like you, Zazzel, I am a label reader.
I am going to check my calcium for biotin. I know that oyster shell calcium was recommended to both my mom and myself for the treatment of osteoporosis.
Any supplement should be taken with caution. A discussion with a knowledgeable person from a health food store, RD and finally your doctor before taking any " miracle cures".
Thanks so much to both of you for sharing!
Thanks for the good article link. I am skeptical of supplements and always ask the Doctor before I consider taking them. Right now just taking supplements the Doctor prescribed and brand prescribed also.
