Waiting for good or bad news?
Not sure what a "kub" is. Since removal of one kidney due to cancer in July 2016, I have been advised it's OK to have CT scans when necessary --- but WITHOUT intravenous contrast medium. Several of my nephrologists agree with this caution. Apparently the contrast is rough on kidneys. Unfortunately, CT scans without IV contrast are not as easy to read. I am scheduled for a test called a loopogram. Contrast is injected in the remaining ureter, a CT scan quickly follows, and then the contrast is removed. I'm not sure if it is the same contrast used in an IV infusion.
Kub is kidneys urether bladder. Ah yes so that is why they are not using the IV contrast. It would show a clearer picture. Hope you are coping ok. Im shocked at them finding scarring on mine and that the stone is stuck in an awkward place. Yet 0.4mm off the guidelines for treating to help ot pass. Ive not got mich to moan about really i suppose as long as it doesnt groe. Have you got to have a special diet? Ive been looking at Chinese medicine there seems to be more natural cures. Also the kidnet foundation says maintaining or improving diet can help. Ive heard of a loopogram i think its a common proceedure in casrs like yours so you can be confident. Best of wishes. X
