Shockingly Good News Today

At the kidney doc last week, he wanted to repeat my renal labs because the ones I had taken on November 1st were terrible (hemolyzed). Today I got the results, and ALL ARE IN NORMAL RANGE. I was stunned. My numbers have been off for the last couple of years, and now everything is normal?!? Not complaining, I've been working really hard at it, but I can't help but wonder why I never saw improvement until now. I feel like I've gotten a reprieve, but it surely got my attention!! I'm wishing great results to everyone who sees this.

Can you share your numbers and trend eg % increased egfr over time? From your previous posts, my guess is its either:

(i) "normal" for age-related ckd

or

(ii) youve improved, maybe because youve indicated you follow a healthy regime.

Hi All, I realized from some of the comments that I should have listed my eGFRs, and I should have said what I've done recently that seems to have made the difference. Here goes:

September 2020-76

March 2022-73

March 2023-61

October 2023-61

January 2024-59

November 1, 2024-53

November 18, 2024-70

I've been a healthy eater for a very long time. I lost a husband to end stage kidney disease in 1998. I've become more inactive over time, so when the problem appeared in 2023, I increased exercise. Between November 1st and November 18th though, the only real change I made was increasing water intake from about 64 ounces a day to 100 ounces.

I take a ton of supplements, but only two prescribed medications: Atorvastatin 10 mg daily for cholesterol and Xarelto 10 mg for a blood clotting disorder (Leiden V).

I have lab orders for the end of February, so we'll see if this good result holds.

Thanks for your feedback and support. It's such a blessing!!
