Hello my fellow CKD community members! It's been a while since I've posted something and I thought this would brighten things up at least a tad. I just had my labs done and my phosphorus levels are too high (again..kinda a never ending battle). I am in need of low phosphorus recipes! What is your go to for snacks, easy, on the go stuff? Or things that also keep well? Anything helps and I would love some new ideas! Despite doing this for a long time, I thought I should mix it up a bit. Thank you!
P.s. I already use DeVita for ideas!

From reading your post it already sounds like you following the write website. I know it gets a bit boring. I snack on frozen watermelon which helps on the fluid restriction aspect but also really tasty. I also make my own hummus so I know how much salt is in it and have veggie sticks with it. I also make my own vegetable and fruit crisps. (May favourite are sweet potato and cinnamon apple) you can buy them but all high in sodium and easy to make.Hope this helps a bit
Thanks for the good ideas. It is hard getting variety of snacks as limited. Will try veggie and fruit crisps and count the sodium. Have tried vegan cheese too.
Making your own veggie crisps means no sodium, I use herbs or chilli or garlic powder instead. I'm have dairy allergy so use vegan cheese anyway. I find this one really nice and has got a bit of kick Tesco Free From Jalapeno And Chilli Cheese Alternative 200G.
Hope you are well, this is my garlic hummus. You can omit the garlic if you want a red pepper one or lemon and coriander. Hope you Enjoy!!
Ingredients
1 tin of chick-peas
5 to 6 tablespoons olive oil
60mls warm water
1 large head of garlic
1 juice of lemon
1⁄4teaspoon black pepper
Directions
Preheat oven to 180c Cut off the very top of the garlic clove so that the tops of most of the cloves are exposed slightly. Coat with a little olive oil and wrap securely in tin foil. Roast garlic in oven for 1 hour. Remove and allow to cool.Using your fingers, squeeze the soft, roasted garlic out of each clove into food processor.
Rinse and drain canned chickpeas. Add them, and all other ingredients, to the food processor and blend until completely smooth.Scrape ingredients off sides of food processor to make sure it blends evenly. If you find that the hummus is too thick, you can add additional olive oil at this time. Add it very slowly, allowing the mixture to combine fully before adding more liquid.
N.B You can add herbs or more lemon. If you not restricted on potassium grilled red peppers makes it lovely.
Add paprika and a drizzle of oil to impressed friends.
It looks great! So far, I am not on any restrictions, my potassium and other electrolytes were good. I eat alot of hummus since I became vegetarian about a year ago. I read labels on store bought and watch the portions.
We will have to share any recipes that I come up with!
