Hey kidney friends. I am wondering, do you take anything natural or use any sort of homeopathy for your symptoms of kidney disease/ failure? For example, I use baking soda to help keep my sodium bicarbonate levels normal.
Homeopathy : Hey kidney friends. I am... - Kidney Disease
Homeopathy
All of the OTC items I take have the okay from my doctors. Basically, they are vitamins, extra iron, AREDS 2 for AMD, and melatonin. Baking soda and baking powder are packed with phosphorus and not to be taken without doctors knowledge. I even had the renal dietitian tell me that baking soda toothpaste was not in my best interest. Having said that remember that all of the dos and don'ts are individualized and not to be limited without the advice of your care team.
I can not believe that after reading and studying up on all my meds I never thought to look at baking soda. My doc prescribed it to me a year ago for my heartburn and antacid buildup. My dietician has been giving me lecture after lecture and I’ve been swearing!!! that I’ve been really careful regarding my diet!! Thank YOU!! I can’t wait to tell her why my phosphorus levels are not going down!
I use apple cider vinegar and honey with warm water to help as a natural anti-inflammatory. I take it morning and night. As suffer with gout due to my kidney not clearing the uric acid correctly.
How is that working? Do you notice a difference?
I think it's made a huge difference before taking it I was having four attacks a year and about 20months ago I got tophi on most of my fingers and my big toe joint has crumbled even though I was taking alporinal. Don't get me wrong I can't say for sure it's helped as did do a 6 week course of steroids to try and help 18months ago but since I started the apple cider vinegar the tophi aren't so big and I've had no attacks.....touching lots of wood as I'm writing this.

My Doctor prescribed I take Omega 3, and Vitamin D due to CKD. No mention of any other supplements.
Because you have CKD that effects all minerals & vitamins. I can't take Omega 3 & vitamin D. When I took vitamin D it made my calcium level go up. I eat foods high in protein & take a multi-vitamin. Everyone is different. The one thing I will suggest but I am sure your doctor will do this, make sure you have labs done to watch the levels of your vitamins & minerals while taking over the counter vitamins. Don't know if that helps. Take care.
Ddwebangel Thanks for info. Dr does blood work monitoring levels and prescribed multivitamin. Agree everyone different.
The only thing i have done and I basically just started doing it. I'm drinking cranberry juice instead of water.
My GFR was 42 & Creatinine level was 1.76. I stopped all medications that I thought i could possibly stop (physiatric meds) & upped my fluid intake by about 20oz, changing it from water to cranberry juice. I also ask Jesus every morning to please place his healing hands upon me.
I just received my blood results back and my GFR is now 62 & Creatinine level is 1.35. It's been over 5 yrs since i had normal levels. I placed it in Gods hands, the feeling is unimaginable.
I have read about the methods you are speaking of and was going to try it too.
Has anyone in stage 3a/b used any/all of the following: avocado oil (for cooking), coconut milk, chia seed, flax seed, hemp seed. Are these safe to use if your potassium, phosphorus etc numbers are all in range? Grateful for any views.
