New Start

Another weight loss diet has started, every year I say this will be the year I am finally going to be normal (what ever normal is). Last year I had many starts and many stops.

Having a busy life with constant work pressures I seek comfort in food, it's a way of destroying myself. I hope this year will be different, I am planning a six month weight loss and maybe I can be a healthy weight once more.

Hi, Jusman , welcome.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works, for weight loss and diabetes, is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

Hello and welcome back, Jusman :)

You probably have a clear idea of how you're going to tackle this but I'm wondering about your six month timescale. I would suggest you need to think in terms of a healthy lifestyle for good, not a time limited diet. These might offer a new approach

A good way to get the most out of the forum is by joining a weekly weigh-in and using the Daily Diary. You'll find these, our Clubs and Challenges, and everything you need to navigate the forum in our Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Wishing you success in 2020

Hi Jusman and welcome back :) Not a diet my friend but this time a way of life :)

I see that last time you could maybe have joined in more... how about making a commitment to involve yourself a bit more this time around. Maybe join in just a couple of things to start with, one of the Weekly Weigh-ins and the Daily Diarys.

The more you involve yourself the further you will get towards your goals.

Ask as many questions as you've got and one of the wonderful, helpful and friendly people here will always be close at hand to try and help out.

Best of luck :)

I would ditch the word 'diet ' and change for life . Diet is drastic , short term misery which has in the past made me more depressed than the day I started it . Try small steps . Portion sizes , 3 decent meals a day and gradually cut out any snacks. Watch what you drink and start exercise..try You Tube , join a class - I love Zumba . Light swimming and walk anywhere local . I walk to the library every week . I started using the discounter supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl as there sees less choice of goodies plus there fruit and veg is cheaper and if you eat it quickly I feel the quality isn't that different.

Don't set impossible goals as most that lose a lot of weight in a very short time unless they are really large tend to put it back on as their programmes can't be sustained .
