Just starting this ❤️

Hi giving this NHS weight loss a go I am in a new relationship the past 3 months and I am so happy with life but I have put so much weight on in that time and was overweight anyway. I have tried every diet club going, nothing seems to be working for me at present. Thought I would give this a go and see how it goes. Confused I have done the BMI and suggested 1761 calories but the basic bit I read suggested 1400 calories. I take it I go with what BMI suggested ☺️☺️

Hi and welcome, HappyandFab :)

I hope that you've realised that dieting doesn't work and that what you need is a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

The BMI calculator will give you a range of calories and we always advice aiming for the upper end, or as many as you can consume, while still losing weight. Eating too little is counter-intuitive, have a look at this healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

1400 is a generic amount, unsuitable for the vast majority of us, because it would be odd to assume that a 6ft, 20 year old, athletic woman of 15st needs to eat the same as a 5ft, 70 year old, sedentary woman of 9st.

Follow this link to our chat thread and a list of all the activities we run. We've found active participation to be key to success, especially with our weigh-ins and Daily Diary

Thank you I will give all that a read tonight after work. 1761 was the lower end of the range so I will aim for that this week and see how I go. You are correct it's healthy eating plan I need ☺️

I would suggest 1900 to start with, as you can always reduce and it's always easier to lose weight at the beginning of your journey :)

Okay I will aim for that this week xx
