Finally Starting the Plan That Is Going to Work!

Hello, fellow Weight-Exterminators!

I've been planning on doing this since October last year and now it's finally here! I weigh 17 stone 3.2lbs as of this morning, and am looking to lose three stone / 42 lbs by my birthday at the start of June. I'm following the NHS 12 week eating guide to start with (adapted with stuff I've learned elsewhere) and I'll be doing the couch to 5k as well (starting next week). I plan to gradually increase my exercise over time, until I'm weight-training, cycling, swimming, running and possibly doing yoga as well. I've years of neglect to undo!

One of my goals i to get myself down from a 40" waist back to a 34", and have more energy/vitality to play with my new nieces and nephew!

As well as dealing with a long-standing weight issue it is hoped that this will also help me to control my Anxiety as well, which can be very debilitating.

I hope in the weeks and months to come I can learn from people here and maybe share the odd tip or two that I find works for me.

All the best, everyone!

Welcome SC.

Sounds like you've got it all planned out.

Good luck!

Make your own luck :) My suggestion would be to try to come here as often as you can, using the support structure (you'll find it's like having a caring family on tap 24/7) and also supporting others, which I find helps me focus too.

Hi there Hidden and welcome. It sounds as though you have spent some time getting yourself to the right place to start on this journey and how you are going to do it.

There is no doubt that examining what you eat (quality) so that you are putting nutritiously valuable food into your body will help with all sort of things, including the anxiety. I am certain that regular exercise will help too.

Don't forget - 80% of weight loss is achieved through diet / calories control and the other 20% by exercise - so healthy eating and monitoring your food intake is the main thing to concentrate on.

You're absolutely right. Food is so very important. I've a good idea of what I'll be eating/not eating over the next few months, although I admit I'm still feeling my way into that at the moment. Research continues, though, and I'm confident I'll be able to strike a good balance before long.

I'm giving exercise a bit of focus this week as it's the bit I classically forget! Also: I've recently heard it can do wonders for Anxiety, so I'm very motivated to get that right this time.

Maybe have a look at the Daily Diary where you can gauge what others are eating day by day.

Weight exterminators , I like it !! I too am doing the 12 week plan (on day6) and also suffer with anxiety but you sound really focused and have a clear idea where you want to be , bring it on !!

in reply to Lytham

I do talk a good game, lol: we'll see how my resolve holds up as the weeks pass. But yeah, I do seem to finally have my thinking in the right place. Long may it last.

Good luck with your own effort!

Hey S_C! I've joined today too! I'm also on the C25k and Bridge to 10k forums. They are a fantastic bunch and massively supportive. Runners really are the most positive and inclusive lot - it doesn't matter what your pace is. Best of luck!

Ooh, I've just been looking at a 10K in my home town. The training regime for that doesn't look any worse than the c25K - can't believe I'm even considering signing up for it, slug-like old fatty that I have been until today, haha!

:'D dont be so down on yourself! We all start the same way - knackered after 90s jogging - and I did the Great South 10 mile in October. It's getting into the habit of running that's the trick and staying injury free to run 3x a week. C25k is 9 weeks then there is the Bridge to 10k plan which is 8 weeks, so a mid-year 10k is perfectly possible!
