Hi all, I've been on the weight loss plan for two weeks now and the first week I lost 2lb. weighed myself after 2cnd week and I've put it on again. I can't believe it so I've put it down to dodgy scales. After weighing several tins I've discovered the scales are weighing heavy, plus the bathroom is not level. I'll try again later when I'm more calm. I need to lose weight before I can have an op. Any advice or support will be gratefully received. Ta.

Hi and welcome, notconfident55 :)

Don't panic, you've already come up with a couple of reasons for the perceived gain and there could be many others, such as hormonal, water retention, etc

If your scales are "weighing Heavy" weighing a few pounds... they might be OK weighing you.You can adjust/calibrate most/some scales... but can you find 50 or 100Kg of "weights"?

It does not matter much if your scales are inaccurate, it is the difference in your weight from one week to the next that matters.

To make the weight reading relatively consistent:

Try to avoid moving your scales

Weigh yourself naked, after using the loo and before breakfast, (on the same day of the week)

Stand in exactly the same position on the scales.

Do you have to lose weight (e.g. doctor's orders, or are measurements relevant?

Wobbly scales are a nightmare...I have one spot in the bathroom where I can weigh myself otherwise I get all sorts of random weights. Try using a tape measure too......sometimes the weight isn’t changing but the tape measure does ! Good luck, keep checking that you are eating enough, and I’m sure the weight will begin to disappear
