Against the clock!

Mr PB30 i have been informed that I need to lose 6 stone before I can have a gaul bladder removal operation. I had an operation last year to remove 30 gaul stones from my bike duct. Anyway the clock is ticking. Say I manage to lose 2 lbs a week: that's 42 weeks! I may have to undergo the first operation again.

Hello PB30 and welcome.

Have you been given any guidance on how to lose weight or are you planning to follow the NHS 12 week plan? If so, you need to find your calorie range from the NHS BMI calculator nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we... and start towards the upper end.

You might like to try a different approach that doesn't involve calorie counting. I'll give you a couple of links: take your time reading through and taking on board their messages

Our Newbie Pack explains more and will help you find your way around healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Mr PB30 put that cake away! 42 weeks seems a long time when you are poorly, but it's an added incentive to sort your weight out. You can do it - especially with all the help and support you will get if you take part here.

Best wishes for the journey.

Take the advice here. Slow but sure to a healthier way of life and a pain freeing operation.

Good luck with your diet choices......

Take your time!

I guess your diet has to be somewhat specialised so as not to aggravate the gall bladder?

My diet is a low fat diet, but it's not too hard to follow. One of my problems is i can't exercise. I have lower back, hip and knee issues and can't walk more than a hundred yards. Most healthy living advice included execise... IF ONLY. Thanks for the post.

Just thought you can do exercise sitting down and using weights. It’s tough not being active but there are some things which I could suggest if you want to try them. Understand if it’s all too difficult though - it’s no fun good luck with everything

It would be very difficult. I suffered a TIA back in 2012 and my left arm is not as good as it used to be. Thank you for the post and for wishing me luck.

I hope you don't have to wait too long. I find the low fat diet fairly easy now I have got used to it. Also since I have been on it my cholesterol level has dropped from 12 to 5.5 which can't be bad. I eat too many carbohydrates, the problem being: I like them! I hope you are successful too.

Thanks for reply realised I was /am eating too much I’m guessing just because something is low in fat it’s stll got calories!!!!

So going to count everything from now on. Got a PT who is fab so should be able to add in some exercise. As also had a knee replacement in May still sorting that although it’s getting there and definitely improving.

Thanks for support.
