Interesting report here. Do people feel it's accurate?

You can't follow the link without registering, derrygeel.

There will always be some discrepancies with calorie counting, as you will get different calorie counts, from different sources, but I think that if we weigh/measure our food and stick to the same calorie counts, we won't be far off.

I managed ok Moreless. 😕

It was saying that Britain has more obesity than any other country in Europe, and they suspect its because the average person is eating out or having take away 3 times a week, and the portion sizes are much larger.

I see this sort of stat on eating out and takeaways quite a lot. I'd rather save my money, cook at home and save up for other nice things than a takeout coffee and a few chips.

Really interesting reading, thank you for sharing. 😊.

Certainly very accurate for me, I was overeating and gaining weight slowly year on year, and always believed it was unfair as I didn’t think I overate 😕

I’ve managed lose most of it now (by strict calorie counting) but it’s so easy to go over, especially as I’m not very tall. Some blame has to go to fast food outlets and cafes, portion sizes are huge!! One cup cake with buttercream can be 600 calories!!! 🤪

An interesting article, I definitely agree from my own experience that it's very easy to overestimate how much you're actually eating without recording it. Not sure if we can entirely blame fast/convenience food though as it's still our own choice to eat it in the first place. Definitely food for thought though. :)

And every cafe or restaurant piles up the plates with cheap high carb food like chips and bread . . .

Calorie counting works for me. I stick to what I find on MyFitnessPal and that’s it.

I’ve found that in the States they are giving the calories on the menu-it’s actually horrifying!!!! I think I’d rather not know!!! I know it’s bad just reading the menu, but it really puts you off haha! It’s disgusting if You really think about it....

Interesting. We had a weeks Staycation and promised ourselves we would have pub lunches everyday, and we actually only ate out twice!! Packed lunch, flask of coffee and a nice view suited us fine. 😊. How times have changed, I’m horrified at calorie and nutrient quality in pubs and restaurants, definitely NOT a treat !!!
