Sudden weight gain

Hi all, I have never had problems with my weight until recently and it’s really getting me down. I’m 5’4” and I’ve shot up from 9st 8lb to 11st 6lb in the space of 14 months! I suspect it’s as a result of my stopping smoking but as I use an electronic cigarette so still get the nicotine I don’t understand the sudden weight gain. Any advice would be much appreciated 😊 x

I'm afraid I can't explain the sudden weight gain whilst using ecigs, although it's a common side effect of quitting cigarettes. Maybe you should speak to your GP, or do some specific research?

Like moreless has already said, a chat with your GP could help eliminate potential issues that may not be smoking related.

At the same time, there is some thinking that although you are maintaining your nicotine levels by swapping to vaping, that it may be the removal of other chemicals that were present in cigarettes and not in vaping that may be the link to weight gain.

Well done for giving up smoking! I’m sure you will get to the bottom of the weight gain conundrum with the same determination that helped you give up the evil weed! 👍
