Weight loss buddy

Hey I'm really new to this so please bare with me on this one.

My name is Leanne, I'm 23 years old and have been wanting to do this for the longest time.

I have depression and severe social anxiety which developed in my late teens so have gone from a slender physique to an oversized blueberry (size UK 32!) and something sparked in my brain a few weeks ago that has me now wanting to lose all this weight.

A few weeks ago I broke my leg and the ambulance crew as hunky as they were got so out of breathe carrying me into the ambulance and this was the embarrassing moment that made me change my whole perspective on myself. So shameful 😣

But I know that I can't do this alone and I feel that a weight loss buddy would not only help me but if someone else could get motivated in the process that to me sounds awesome and worthwhile!

I'm just wondering how I would go about finding a weight loss buddy because I'm so socially anxious. I'm thinking we could compare notes, make meal plans talk on the phone and Skype about our day and what we have accomplished. A friend to talk to when feeling like going off the wagon.

I'm sure this has been thought of before but I think its an amazing opportunity for me and whoever else who may want to join me on this journey.

I have about half my body weight to lose so I know for a fact this is going to be a slow process but I'm reaching out to people who are like minded and would benefit from something like this.

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI (can be found in the pinned Newbie post) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's :) and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Well done for taking those first steps, I'm sure you'll find everything easier now :)

Follow the directions that Hidden has given you, then click on your name at the top of your screen, then click on 'people near me'. That way, you'll know if there's anyone that lives near you, in the same boat.

Please don't worry if this isn't the case though, as we are all buddies to each other. There is someone around for most of the day and plenty of activities, designed to support, encourage and keep you on track :)

I advise that you join in as much as you can and you'll soon make lots of friends :)
