Water

I am really struggling to keep on top of how much water I am drinking . I often don't feel thirsty and as a result forget to drink. I know this isn't very good for you . So how do you guys keep on top of your water intake ?

I keep a big bottle in my fridge and decant into a smaller bottle, to sip through the day. I guess it's just become a habit now to drink :)

Don't worry, you'll get there! You could always set an alarm to go off hourly and drink half a glass every hour, or drink a glass with each meal and snack. :)

It's so hard if it isn't natural for you to drink a lot. I just drink a lot of water naturally. I always have a drink when my tummy rumbles and before I eat.

What about if you try to drink some water:

Whenever you feel hungry

Whenever you pick up your mobile phone

Whenever you hear or say (or think about) the word "food"

Whenever you walk into the kitchen?

Just some ideas :)

You can get apps on your phone to log how much you drink to help reinforce it and show exactly how much you are/aren't having :) you can also get your water from tea, coffee and sugar free squash if water gets boring!

I fill a 1.5l bottle first thing on a morning and once I've had a cup of tea I pour out into the cup the amount of water I've used and then pour it away. I keep doing this for all drinks during the day, and if there's some left at bedtime, I make sure I drink it...xx

I have an app that tells me when to drink (water time pro), so far its working well. Its been working so well that i had to get up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet last night!

Put eight bracelets on your left arm and every time you drink water move a bracelet from your left arm to your right arm. By the end of the day, you will know how much you have left to drink. Assuming you work in an office where wearing bracelets is practical ;)

This is a variation of counting cricketing overs (with buttons) when amateur umpiring!

I drink loads of water, (and as a result, I get lots of steps in as I'm backwards and forwards to the loo all day!). I never used to drink a lot but I've trained myself to do so and it's now second nature - I don't even think about it.

I bought half a dozen water bottles from Home Bargains, (the ones you take to the gym), and positioned them strategically so that, no matter where I was, there was always one in sight. It took some getting used to, but now I get a bit panicky if I'm more than 10 metres from a water bottle!

Good luck with whichever strategy you choose Jodietillson :)

I have 2 bottles which between them measure 160 mls (20mls 8 times a day which I read somewhere was the amount we should be drinking).I fill them as each one is emptied and put in the fridge. I take one out in the morning and leave it beside the kettle or somewhere very visible (for me kitchen window ledge, mantle piece ,or beside my chair.) Drinking it is no problem as long as I see it.I sometimes put no added sugar juice through it to flavour it. Seeing it is half my battle hence the reason it has to come out of the fridge. Drinking water does help with weight loss If Im out a lot some days and I dont manage so what I try again next day Hope this might help you
