Hi everyone! ☺️

Brand new to this forum, not new to dieting tho! Fed up of lame diets and are looking for a lifestyle change! Weighed myself today only to find that I'm tipping the scales at nearly 14stone, I was absolutely gutted, so I'm going to do something about it! any advice would be greatly appreciated, as from tomorrow I am going to take myself off to the gym, but if I'm honest I am super scared about going!!! I'm so self conscious😩

Hi, welcome!!! We are a friendly bunch and don't bite much. What changes are you going to make to your eating? I am told this is the most important thing. Good luck at the gym tho

Hi, hmm well I was going to try eating little but often, defo cutting out sugar and wine! And snacking on watermelon 🍉

I've got into a terrible habit of eating processed quick foods, I need to start spending a bit of time preparing and cooking nice healthy meals instead.

I was the same. I used to eat ready meals nearly every day, processed junk full of hidden sugar. I had to start cooking. Now we eat simple meals like meat or fish with veg but it is working. Good luck

Hi Sambo16

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbies post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start along with a photo so you can see the changes on the days when the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come and join us. You can find the weigh in on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and state your starting weight and any loss/gain or maintain over the week.

To get the best out of the forum be active, share experiences, tips and recipes. Read some of the posts in the Topic section, they can be motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Good morning, thanks for your reply, you are right everyone needs to start somewhere, I'm off to the gym this morning, going to do this!! After that I'm going to head to the supermarket and fill up on healthy foods and actually start cooking meals for a change, I want to be a positive influence to my 5 year old son, I'm fed up being the overweight lethargic mum! Have you started exercising? What are your plans? Have a great day.x

I go to a 45 minute boot camp class every Tuesday evening which I enjoy and this week I am collecting a new bike! My son recently passed his driving test and is using my car so thought it was the push I needed to start riding to work and getting out and about in general now that the weather is improving. I am fed up with having no energy and no clothes that fit! Going on holiday in 3 months and want to look and feel so much better than I do now. So fingers crossed this forum will help me stay on track. Feels good to be able to support each other and share stuff.

Good luck x

Don't feel scared or ashamed!!! You should feel proud and pleased that you are doing something to improve your life style!! I felt the same as you last year when I started the gym!! I was 51 and 12.5 stone since then I have lost 3 stone and can't believe how much fitter I am! Good luck and the Gand dieting defiantly work!!

Good morning, that is amazing weight loss!!!! Well done! 3st loss is my weight goal, that way it puts me in the healthy bracket with my BMI - I'm obese at the moment! How I hate that word! Sounds so ugly!!!!!

Off to the gym this morning, super nervous but going to do this!

How often do you exercise?x

At first I was going 3-4 x per week, I took my dog over to a valley near where we live a couple of times a week and done about 40 mins of power walking. It all helped and for me was the only way' I just cut right down on carbs and meat. I have only been going to the gym twice a week and been out fir meals (lots of functions!!) and gained 5lb so it's back to the gym more and back to basics of dieting!!

I felt like you about the gym but I made sure I didn't go to one that was a more posey style all that"Lycra and strutting around!!! Nooo! I go to a local council run leisure centre. There are people of all ages and all sizes and there for different reasons! The guys who work there are really friendly and helpful too!! I also do 20 lengths of swimming after the gym, something I enjoy after a heavy sweaty work out!! Feel proud you are doing something to improve your situation!!x
