Don't stress about the dress!...

...or the hair or the make up or the shoes!

My goal was to be a size 16 by the end of January ready for a bridesmaid dress measurement. I am not going to hit this target. The measurements are now being taken in two weeks time. Not enough time (though 4 weeks may not have been enough either as I am definitely 6-10lbs away from a sixteen, and that is only a guess). I'm still going to aim to fit comfortably into size 16 jeans by the end of January, I've already bought the target jeans and they go up and on but if I bend or breathe it hurts. So I didn't feel like I was that far off it.

I'm a bit gutted but im not going to stress about it :) now my goal is to lose what I can in two weeks, and focus on toning before the wedding in April so my belly doesn't get hugged by the dress when I move. Stupid lower belly. My "waist/under book area" is actually okay, I can officially (for the first time in forever) say that I LIKE part of myself. Unfortunately the lower belly button onwards is all wobbly and flab. I am working on toning and losing weight, but I will definitely be investing in some tummy control underwear (if its any good and even comes in my size) and I will not let this get me down!!

Good for you. No point in making yourself miserable aiming for what you know is unlikely. I think you have adopted exactly the right approach, aiming to firm and tone and look the best you can on the day. Good luck.

But you have lost which is a great achievement. I find if I try to lose weight for an event I put it on! The pressure gets to me so you have done really really well. :)

Thanks. I haven't lost what I wanted to by this point but haven't given up and try to reflect on how I used to have to buy size 20 jeans. :)

Keep on going. I like what you said about the dress. I think that it is possible to look good in a larger size if all the flab is in the right place. You're losing and for that you are going to feel fabulous.

Love your approach , I have same desire and was fitting into all my old size 16 's. So decided I bought a new pair and realised I had put over the holidays and had to take them back. Hey ho size varies so much from shop so am now going to wait until get another 7lbs off before going shopping again. Toning up is a great idea for wedding dress , planks are good for this .

Thanks! :) it's for a bridesmaid dress this time around but the wedding dress will be one day! :)

I hate that sizes vary, I try to buy my jeans from the same shop for weight loss measuring purposes, and even then there's no guarantee the styles aren't different! :)

I will get to planking!

Well done, Kinbun! You're new size/shape is a work in progress, so enjoy the wedding and don't stress. Have you tried hula hooping? Seriously, I haven't used a hoop, since I was in primary school- over 50 years ago - but really enjoying it as you can do at home while watching television, listening to music etc and it really tones the hips, tummy and midriff.

Good luck, Helen

Weirdly I DO have a hula hoop :) a weighted one, which isn't great quality. I DO love it, but need to invest in a better make as this one has gone slightly out of shape (and I had to tape it together almost immediately because it kept flying apart while mid-use!). But yes :) I agree that hula hooping is great, once you get the hang of it anyway!
