Hi I lost almost two stone a while back and have managed to keep it off but have been staying in hotels last couple weekends and i've put 4lb back on and as I am going out for a meal tomorrow and another Saturday then I go away again Sunday with more meals out etc in coming weeks this could cause more problems. So yesterday I went back to calorie counting and found i slipped back into routine quite easily so hopefully can manage these next few weeks up to Christmas by calorie counting when I'm eating at home. I am so glad that when i reached my target weight I made the decision to carry on weighing myself each week. I suppose we all really know what to do to stop the weight going back on but has anyone any tips for maintaining?

It never ceases to amaze me the dearth of fruit and even more especially vegetables whenever you eat out - so many restaurants think a token grilled half tomato and one mushroom is sufficient - my hubby, who is trying unofficially to eat more healthily but works away during the week has taken to finding the nearest carvery restaurant wherever he stays just so he can get a decent plateful of veg - come on restaurants add an option of a side dish of decent veg to the menu so those of us who wish to eat healthily can eat out without breaking that calorie bank
Hi Irmagee,
I think you are doing brilliantly so far at maintaining, and you have clearly demonstrated that you can turn things around if you gain a bit of weight, through meals out etc - which is good - you're exercising control, and feeling more confident. I don't know if you've chosen a 'maintaining window' - i.e. a range of weight you're happy between? That would be my preference when I get to that point - I'm not there yet, as I am still trying to get my weight down to the 12's. But I have maintained a healthy BMI for about 2 years now, which has been down to continued following of the principles of the NHS plan - otherwise I think I'd have put on lots of weight potentially. I think it's a lifestyle choice that I can follow for the remainder of my life to be honest. I never feel like I'm depriving myself, and I enjoy choosing and eating healthy options.
I agree wholeheartedly with Annabelle_Bebbs that restaurants would do better to provide a greater range of vegetable side dishes as options - that would be really good.
Anyway, I hope you cope ok with the remainder of the week and that everything goes well.
