Hi, I'm new here.

I go to a slimming club but seem to have stuck at the same weight for a few weeks. I am now walking a lot (10,000 steps a day) but it doesn't seem to be helping yet. Aaarrgghhh!

I am enjoying walking although get quite a lot of knee pain.

Hi and welcome Meggieg :)

Exercise is great for health and well-being, but not necessarily for weight loss. It will be your diet that's most important for seeing the pounds disappear :)

You may need to have a rethink about what you're eating and the quantity :)

I'm sorry to hear that you're getting a lot of knee pain. Maybe a trip to see your GP would be a good idea? :)

Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread, it has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a guide to healthy living, rather that a specific diet plan.

Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.

Join us for the monday group weigh-in. If you follow Zest , you'll be notified when she posts the thread. However, the latest thread can always be found in the events section, to the right of the home page.

Be active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration :)

Wishing you all the very best :)

Hi,

Unfortunately, losing weight is around 90% down to what you (don;t) eat, and only 10% at most what exercise you do.

To lose weight you need to pay great attention to your food intake - if you are stuck then you are eating enough calories to maintain your weight, so you need to cut back more.

Keep up the exercise, and do more if you can, as it will help your fitness, firm you up, and is good for your heart and lungs etc. But from a pure weight loss point of view it will only help a little bit.

Possibly there are other exercises you could do which are less painful on the knees - maybe swimming?

I hope that helps.
