C25k week 6 run 1
Hi Gareth,
Wow, time is flying by, isn't it...!? We did our final Week 3 runs of last week, really good! Here's a link to that previous thread, incase anyone is looking for it:

I'll pin this new one, and here's to a great Week 6, and I hope to get out later to do my Run 1 - all being well.
Good luck to everyone for this week!
Thanks for keeping us organised Gareth, and wishing you an excellent week too.

Morning Gareth,
I am new to this challenge, so a little behind as I am on week 2. I am doing this with my daughter as she has to do a 1500 at sports day in a couple of weeks. Of next session will be the 3 one of week 2. I am recovering quicker in the walking sections than I did at the beginning although my daughter who is really fit doesn't puff and pant like I do!
Still I have started and just hope to be fitter than I am at the moment (which shouldn't be too hard!)
Merrymanda
Hi Merrymanda,
Great to see you here! Glad you joined us, I know gareth0073 and moreless and the others will be really thrilled - we love having company here, and it's supportive and encouraging.
Have a wonderful run, and great that you're supporting your daughter.

Yaaaay manda! I'm delighted that you joined us!
We're all at different stages and abilities, so you'll fit in beautifully!
Lowcal is our super speedy Amazon and I'm a puffing, panting plodder! I'm sure that somewhere between those two extremes, is a perfect slot for you
I'm looking forward to hearing how you and your daughter progress
Hi Everyone,
I went to the gym this morning, and I've done my 1st run of this week on the treadmill at an incline of 1. I ran for 5km and did it in 30 minutes and 50 seconds, and I was very happy!!! Really enjoyed it, and felt really good for that.
Wishing everyone a great 1st run of the week.
Lowcal
I did my first run this morning - 5K in 45 mins.
I really tried to beat my 44.22 pb, but it wasn't to be and I felt too pooped to go further
I was a bit rubber legged and light headed after the run and wonder whether I should be eating before I go out? It does feel a bit odd eating so early and I don't want to cause a cramp, or feel sick. Maybe I should have a banana, or something similar before I go and my breakfast afterwards? Any suggestions would be gratefully received
Good luck with your runs, fellow athletes!
Hi Moreless,
Well done for doing your first run this morning - that's an excellent time again, and you very nearly beat the previous time - it's incredibly close! Maybe next time.
I am sure that gareth0073 might know about whether you should eat before going out - my thoughts are that I think I've read that it is preferable to eat something beforehand, and I have also read that in some Sport's nutrition books that they even advocate different things to eat or drink 'before' and run, and different things for 'after' - so it might be worth looking into that, to enable you to have optimal nutrition to support your running needs. If I find any helpful information I will pass it on to you, Moreless, but I've not got much time this morning - but hopefully Gareth or someone else will comment on this - or you could always put a post up in the Couch to 5k community to ask their thoughts?!
Hope you have a great day, and well done for completing your first run. You're doing brilliantly!
Have a great week!
