Friday weigh in.

Last week 12.6st, this week 12.5st. So yesterday was a really grim day. I received the dire news that my mum has been diagnosed with cancer. I thought I would hit the bottle last night and comfort eat but instead have felt sick to the stomach and not eaten much at all. Haven't slept either. Hoping for a better day today. I hope everyone else's week is going well ☺

HI juliet444. So sorry for you, I know how devastating that 'C' word can sound. I hope that your mum has plenty of options and with your support I am sure you will get through this together. It does take a while to come to terms with the news but hope you are able to still look after yourself and hope you have a better day today. Best wishes to you both.

Thank you ☺ already feeling better with people's kind words and knowing I'm not alone.

I'm sending a big virtual hug to you and wishes for good doctors to make your mum better. You'll get through this and you've got lots of people on here who will help you through this xx

Thank you ☺ x am hoping she will now get better care. It's taken a long time to get a diagnosis so hoping now it will move quickly. The not knowing has been awful for her. X

Hi Juliet, I am with you and so understand what this awful news feels like (I felt like I'd been thumped in the stomach when I received similar news about a loved one!).

Cancer is not the death sentence it used to be. Nowadays many people 'live with cancer' and manage their conditions, rather than die of it. Health care has moved on tremendously. The journey is painful but also full of love, closeness and incredible support. Stay positive and be fully present to this journey. Draw from it everything that is good for you and your family. Do not let negative thoughts or darkness cloud you.

I am wishing you and your mum well. Take one day at a time and stick to as much healthy eating and exercise as you can to give you the power and strength to help your mum.

Big hug ((((O)))) and lots of love to you!

It is a truly awful test to have to go through. Grit your teeth and face everything you have to do with strength and dignity! You have no choice but to face it, so do it with power, love and kindness... X

in reply to Seuzan

So sorry to hear your news I have been in your situation with my husband it's the news that everyone dreads but you need to look after yourself to be strong for her it's not a good time to try losing weight I would wait until things have settled down with Mum as they will you are still in shock when you feel better about things you could use food planning as a distraction very best wishes to you and your family stay strong. Joan x

Hi Juliet,

I am so sorry to hear the news about your Mum's diagnosis. I can imagine you must be feeling some sense of uncertainty about the future, but there are so many more care options and treatments available currently, and it's good that they've made the diagnosis so they can help her. Big hugs to you (((((Juliet))))), and I really hope you and your Mum cope ok with this.

Well done on losing 1 pound. I really hope you can get a better night's sleep tonight - do take care and wishing you a good week ahead.

Lowcal :-) xx

Thanks Juliet, hope you have a relaxing weekend, and that you sleep much better. I'm on track for Monday, as I'm 're-booting' and it's really good so far, really glad I'm doing that...!

You take care. xx

Hi Juliet,

So, so sorry to hear your news{{{{hug}}}} hope you are feeling a little less numb today.

Shock has that effect and you need to take care of yourself xx

A Ib off is great but I bet you are not feeling that, try to stay positive and I do hope there is better news soon.

Take care

😇

in reply to

Thanks Flossie it's been tough especially without sleep but as you say it's the shock that is most difficult. Will become more positive soon x

in reply to

Just take care of yourself, it's easy to put others first xx

😇 xx

Sending you hugs too Juliet. Hope so much that your mum will be ok X

So sorry about your Mums diagnosis, I too have been in the position of finding out a loved one has cancer, it's such a shock for you. I agree with the others that treatments are so much better these days and hope the doctors can help your Mum. Stay strong for her, dieting will be the last thing on your mind, but doing something positive and feeling more energised will help you to help her. x

in reply to Caz28

Thank you ☺ yes will try and stay on the healthy eating, don't feel up to eating anything at the moment! After some sleep I hope things will seem more positive. X

I am so sorry about your mum's diagnosis, it is perfectly understandable that you feel so upset.

Try to look after yourself as much as possible, once the shock is over you will feel a bit better and you will need to be as healthy as possible in order to help your mum.

Well done on losing that 1lb!

in reply to LessToLose

Thank you ☺ yes will definitely need to keep healthy and try and get some sleep. It is such a shock especially with so much awful cancer stories on the news but will try and keep positive!
