I am 65. A long time ago I bought Rosemary Connelleys low fat diet.

So now we have a complete turn around.

Following a high fat diet?

What is this and how is it healthy please?

I was impressed with the food revolution video, but when I came to look up The food Doctor I see we have subscribe and pay for this site. A bit disappointed. I know folks have to make a living, but is there another site which will give me som basics about low carb, more fat diet? Is it about cutting out sugar and not worrying about dairy? I love cream but never dare go there!!

I read an interesting article on Wikipedia giving a concise history of diets which was really informative. I didn't realise there were such controversy .

There are several free sites out there with information on alternative ways of eating. This is one.

Cutting out foods with added sugar, and junk food generally, is a good idea.

I've always followed Rosemary's advice (recipes and exercises) - it worked for me so I'm not changing! Since reaching my target I've also used some Hairy Dieters recipes - they are brilliant too!

For me it's about not eating low fat, but staying with traditional fats like butter or olive oil, and not always choosing lean meat.

Unfortunately, when fat was removed from manufactured foods, like low fat yoghurt, it was replaced with sugar.

Some people cut out a lot of carbohydrates and replace them with more natural fat, which works well if you are insulin resistant.

Alternatively, you could just eat what you enjoy...

It is interesting to see what you 'naturally' go for in terms of % fat/carbohydrate/protein. From recording on MyFitnessPal, I find my own diet is remarkably consistent in terms of proportions.

My personal view is that the issue may be more that some highly processed foods - tweaked to reduce something or other - may confuse your natural appetites.
