Hi all! I'm starting week 3 now. So far I've lost 6.8 lbs! I'm really happy with my success so far. I'm staying motivated and sticking to my calorie limit. I've even been turning down my fave thing on earth...chocolate! I'm proud of myself and hope by the end of 12 weeks I'll be at my goal of 2 stone loss!
Also, I have a question...is anyone on the 5:2 diet? If so, how much have you lost? And when you're on the "5" part of the diet, do you still "diet" or just eat like you don't care?

I am no expert. But I would image on the 5 days you still need to eat within the calorie limit and on the 2 day you need to be very strict with the carb/cal intake. There are plenty of articles on the WWW.
To lose weight we have to take in less calories. If you eat like you just don't care then the chances are you will put on weight. In addition it does not bode well for good habits. Losing weight is a re-education to the way we see food. Its necessary, it needs to be healthy, its enjoyable and it needs to be respected. Over indulgence must be avoided, especially on a regular basis.
Sadly, there is no magic solution to losing weight. But it can be a wonderful experience finding a overall new diet for life, now and for the future.
I am not on a 5:2 diet as yet, I was going to try it when I have completed my own goal for weight loss and then use it as a means to maintaining my ideal weight. So I am interested in how you get on with it.

I originally tried the 5:2 diet and lost on average about 2lbs a week which is what it suggests. Generally on the '5' day you can eat normally but that means between 1500-1700 cals as your body will need the food to repair your body and give you energy.
I loved this diet, but my 5:2 slowly slipped to 7:0 oops.
