11 weeks to lose 2 stone, is it possible?

I'm currently 5ft 4" and weigh in at 13st 2-3lbs; I'm 20 years old. I really want to get to at least 11st before I go away on holiday but i keep hitting slumps. I can lose weight quite easily when I stick my mind to it; but when I've lost say 11lbs I then give up for some reason even when I'm doing well, it's ridiculous. I find it hard to stick to a plan especially when I'm working in the office or with my boyfriend as he eats for england! I'm just sick of this weight and I want out for a healthier me, does anyone have any tips or advice?

Try the Myfitnesspal app, . Nothing will give you a quick fix, but a steady 2lbs per week would make you feel and look great before your hols. Try the Myfitnesspal app, it checks calories in all manner of foods by brand, and does all the calculations for you. I am looking to lose 2 stone and I keep to 1200 cals per day , some days I go over , some less. ( Last week I went away for a night and had icecream, a full english breakfast, glass of wine etc and consumed 1800cals! But I have still managed an average 1156 cals per day over 8days) . GOOD LUCK

I have to say myfitnesspal is great I have used it but one of my problems is being truthful with myself with what I'm adding and maybe not adding to it!

I've tried the fitbit app which is a better design but more for americans as you can't add any food on there!

Good luck to you too! I think its time to say enough of the excuses, time to get rid of the excess and get healthy!

Someone once said to me: " When you reach the pearly gates and st peter asks 'do you have any regrets?' Am I likely to regret not getting enough chocolate in life , or regret having been fat all my life? :0

Like ellibath I use myfitnesspal. I also do the 5:2 diet. With MFP I stick to 1300 calories and twice a week 500-600 calories. I go to the gym 5X week and have just started Couch25k. You should aim to lose 2lbs a week and you will look and feel great on holiday. Good luck.

Hi, interested to know, do you aim at your 1300 / 500 cals before exercise ? if you run doesn't that bring your calorie level too low? Reason I adk is cuz ive read in several places the problem with low cal intake and starvation mode, which makes the weight plateau.

Because you're only eating under 500 calories two non-consecutive days a week it doesn't trigger 'starvation mode'. Dr Michael Mosley says not to count your exercise calories, they're a bonus, so I always run on my 'fasting' days. Can I suggest you watch the excellent BBC Horizon programme that started off the 5:2 Diet vimeo.com/54089463 and I'd recommend Kate Harrison's book called The 5:2 Diet and her Facebook group with the same name. I lost three stone in six months, going from a size 16 to a size 10, and have kept it off for a year now by fasting one day a week. I also did the NHS Couch to 5k running programme and now run three times a week for about 30 minutes. I'm now 64 and no other diet has worked so well for me and I've never been so slim or so fit!

Since starting this site I have altered my daily intake to 1400. It is more realistic and achievable. Thursday was a fast day and I found I had exercised a fair bit (Week 2 Run 2), 3K on treadmill - fast walk- and gardening) . I found I consumed (out of necessity) 1,037 calories but expended 606. Just now getting a handle on weight loss!

Well thats a success story indeed. Thanks for the info, I will have a look at those, and 5:2 seems a good maintenance plan longterm.

Although I cant run ,( I have a torn miniscus that has been trimmed but still not great, but at least I can walk for an hour or so now without acute pain) I am approaching 62 and even as a slim child in the fifties, I was still a 'well built' girl, so if I could get down from my current size 16 to a 12/14 , 10stoner I'd be very happy! Thank you and well done to you.

I think it will be hard to lose that much weight in such a short time. If you are determined and disciplined enough you can definitely lose some weight. Combine calorie controlled healthy eating with some brisk walking or start the C25k running programme. It's easy but you have to have willpower, determination and discipline. The first 2/3 weeks are always the worst then it gets easier. Believe me! Get started and good luck.
