Hi and welcome, Mother31265
If you've never dieted before, don't start now. Concentrate on eating the right foods and you'll lose weight - don't be in too much of a hurry and start taking desperate measures, which will only mess up your metabolism. This is a nice easy guide to healthy eating healthunlocked.com/api/redi...
Recipes can be found in Topics and meal ideas can be found on the daily diary.
All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts
healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
If you haven't already taken it, here's a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Wishing you all the best
Hi I agree with moreless: don't start dieting
I've seen your profile and that you have an ankle problem. I'm tagging IndigoBlue61 who had ankle surgery last year and is doing great. It's probably not the same condition but I'm sure she'll give you some encouragement.
My tip would be to think about making healthy, long term changes rather than having to lose 2 stone, as rapid weight loss/dieting is less likely to last long term. I'm aiming for 2 lbs a week over the coming months. Good luck!
Thank you for all your amazing advice .I will aim to lose 2lbs a week as to losing weight quickly
Hello and nice to meet you Mother31265 Thank you BridgeGirl for the tag
My advice is to don’t focus only on the numbers and instead try to find a way of eating that you can continue long term. By focussing on health and well being, how you feel inside, and how much energy you have, you will feel benefits almost immediately
Exercise is also important, within your own limitations, more for pain management than weight loss. I’ve also got arthritis and understand only too well how challenging that can be but any effort now on getting weight under control and muscles strengthened will pay of big time after your surgery. Have you seen a physio? I was given exercises to do, as well as some of my own devising combined some yoga and Pilates. I kept these going prior to, and after my ankle fusion last April. I had a perfect recovery and am fitter than ever now my ankle is pain free.
Please just ask if you have any questions
thank you for your lovely response ,I am just curious to know after your ankle fusion can you do exercise as normal like waling and running ?
Hello and good to hear from you
Unfortunately my injuries rule out running but walking is much improved. I currently do about 5000 steps a day and am mostly pain free, apart from some background arthritis in my knees and hips.
Are you definitely looking at an ankle replacement or have they suggested you try a fusion first?
If you want any more advice or have any questions please just ask, either here or send me a PM

It's my first day too. I'm looking more for a lifestyle change.
I don't want to have a 'diet' then end it and go back to my original weight.
