Passed the half way mark!

I have been visiting this site for a couple of months and been avoiding posting despite all the motivation I have been leeching off others!

I recently turned 32 and even before then I decided it was time to do something about my weight. I am quite surprised how "easy" it has been for me. I am blessed and cursed with apathy and stubbornness. Before I started they got in the way, now they are an asset. I don't really care about missing out on food I used to eat, but equally I am also able to keep doggedly working at exercising.

What amazes me is how it doesn't take as much effort to get into exercise as I thought it would. I am a preferrer of walking as it is not too difficult (always a plus). When I started I was proud when I managed to do 26 miles over a 4 day weekend. Only 8 weeks later in a 3 day weekend I walked 61 miles! 6 months ago I would never have believed I'd be doing that.

Yesterday I passed my first distance milestone of 500 miles! Already made some inroads into 1000! The biggest thing for me though is the scales. Sundays are my weigh in days and today I find I am no longer obese having now lost 50 pounds which is 18% of my body mass or around 7 bmi. Only 40 more to go. I have to go back to around 19 or 20 years old to be able to remember what that was like.

The biggest pain is that about a month before I started I threw my old clothes so I am now having to replace my wardrobe from scratch! Of course that's not the worst thing in the world. Eating less does give me more money too!

Anyhow I flatter myself in hoping that this little insight into the world of me will be of encouragement to others.

Best of luck to all and keep at it and you will find that one day soon it will fall into place!

Well done on your success! I've never thought of adding up my distances but I can see that it would be encouraging and confirm that you are indeed putting in the effort - and deserve the success. I will do that with my C25K runs because to see such a large total would be very encouraging. Thank you for the tip and good luck for your continued success!

Hi Huyai,

Well done!! (doesn't sound like enough praise) what a fantastic achievement. It's so lovely to hear that some-body has found the weight loss journey easy. I wish you lots of luck for the next 40lbs. I look forward to reading your next blog.

HI Huyai,

That is really well done. 50 lbs is about 23 kgs

I bet you feel really different already compared to how you started - let alone how you will feel when you reach your final destination on the weight loss bus.

Not sure how long you've taken to do that, but I would recommend doing it reasonably slowly (recommended is 1 to 2 lb a week) as it gives your body more time to adapt to the changes and also more time for your new better eating habits to settle in.

I've personally found the weight loss journey just so much easier than I ever imagined it would have been prior to taking the plunge and just getting on with it.

For sure, it takes a bit of commitment and some perseverence, but it hasn't been nearly as bad as I imagined it was going to be.

Good luck with your weight loss journey.
