How do I enquire (not complain - don't want to upset anybody) as to when I might expect my surgery? I had my pre-op assessment 5 weeks ago but have heard nothing since. My condition is worsening somewhat rapidly.

For waiting times, you would be best off asking your consultant’s secretary. That said, if your symptoms have worsened you must see a doctor to reassess the situation - the medical urgency of your condition may have changed, so you might need surgery or something else much sooner.
