Hi. So I'm having some problems at night I'm facing excessive sweating, hot ears and anxious with shakes also pins and needles in feed. I suffer from anxiety and depression also IBS my IBS has been really bad lately with diahrea and upset stomach. My IBS first came when I quit smoking I smoked to control my anxiety but started smoking again because my anxiety was really bad but now smoking doesn't seem to help no more my anxiety is worst than ever and my IBS is also now I'm wondering if this excessive sweating and hot ears and being anxious at night is caused by my anxiety. Does anyone have the same problem? My doctor is useless tbh she seems to just fob me off with tablets than help me 😩

Thanks

Jack.

Hi I suffer terrible with excessive sweating day and night, I barely cope with it, have seen GP they say that certain tablets that I take cause sweating, I am on anti depressants and other medication I came off one lot of pain killers I thought things were getting ok with being off them but things are really just as bad. I bought a anti perspirant called Driclor but I keep forgetting to use it as it has to be used on a night before bedtime you have to wash it off on a morning. I have come to a full stop now as I don't know what else to do about.

It sucks. The only thing I'm on is Citlopram also Gastro tablets but I think it's something to do with my anxiety.

I think you are probably right because I also suffer from anxiety, my daughter does also and she sweats terribly, its something we should look into more closely I'm going to see my GP again.

My GP told me citlopram causes excess sweating, I stopped taking them and the sweats calmed down

Sounds like anxiety....ive suffered from it since my teens, also, my two teenage sons (19 & 17) are on the Spectrum and both (particularly my elder son) suffer too. You should bear in mind the side effects off SSRI's, sometimes they can actually increase symptoms of anxiety, especially when you first start taking them and the dosage. Go see your GP again to discuss whether or not this could be the case, you might need to change them or have the dosage altered. Hope that helps. 😊x

I find that my anxiety makes me sleep all the time also. And triggers my IBS. It sucks all I seem to do is be stuck in bed :/

Isn't there another GP in your practice that you can see. Anxiety is notorious for sapping the energy out of you. It's exhausting, mentally and physically, so it's no wonder all you want to do is sleep! IBS is awful too. It's debilitating, painful and can be embarrassing, unfortunately,as I'm sure you know, it's linked to anxiety. I used to smoke. Gave up numerous times and always started again during stressful times. I gave up a year ago, have an electronic now. I find I'm using it less and less so might be worthwhile you investing in one. Have you had any therapy? Anxiety is a living nightmare, it has so many knock on effects, mental and physical. It can be and is life limiting and a lot of people, unless they've personally suffered, don't understand it and the effects it has on an individuals life. Along with my own battles with it, I watch it daily with my two sons, and in particular my elder son, who barely leaves the house and is unable to work or study!) and it's heartbreaking. So, my heart goes out to you and I do understand where you're coming from. Tracey x 😊

Well when I quick smoking this is when it all happened. Never had IBS until I quick smoking and my anxiety wasn't as bad when I was smoking so I started again but doesn't seem to help. I don't go out at all because when my anxiety flares up my IBS flares up so I stay at home not go out much. I went to the doctors to see another doctor but no joy I haven't had therapy for my anxiety no. But the only thing that helps is sleep sleep sleep I've got my having ago at me because of it. She thhinks it's all in my head which sucks nan says I'm wasting my life away maybe I am but I can't help it.

Can I ask how old you are? Isn't there another GP surgery in your area? If not....go back again and again and AGAIN till someone takes you seriously! And if you can take someone with you ( your Nan? Any other relative or friend) someone who knows you and how it's all effecting you, that'd help. The medical profession are letting you down badly! Everyone deserves to actually LIVE their life rather than just exist! Don't lose hope or give up. Smoking helps calm you, if you're calm then your IBS is less likely to flare up, that all makes sense. So, maybe leave the giving up until youre feeling better able to cope. x

I know that I suffer from a range of strange symptoms .I thought I had lost the plot I had similar problems to you . Fatigue, confusion, depression , anxiety, lumps and bumps, red legs, problems with sun exposure, over heating, sweating etc . However one day I was in so much pain with my feet and hands. It came from nowhere .I couldn't understand what had happened to me or what to do about it.Eventually I went to see the rheumatologist tests revealed that I have autoimmune disease . I have connective tissue disorder. All very complicated and there are lots of conditions that come under the heading like lupus , rheumatoid arthritis .160 different conditions come under the connective tissue disease, anxiety and depression can be involved. I'm not sure what all your symptoms are. I would write a list and change GP if you're not happy. It took me 22 years to be properly acknowledged. To look at me I look a picture of health which is crazy as I feel worn out and like I have the flu all the time. My immune system has gone into overdrive and attacks healthy parts of the body.

Re GP's Its not possible to leave your health to them from my experience. They come in all shapes and sizes and usually between 6 and 10 minutes to come to a conclusion. You have to be your own research tool and keep looking and researching to see where you could possibly fit in in medical terms. I had a wonderful GP whose bedside manner and sympathy was equivalent to a red carpet at the Oscars. But as far as a diagnosis was concerned she didn't have a clue.. It was only when I couldn't move my hands and feet that I finally got a blood a test that revealed that I had some raised inflammation markers which triggered off a visit to the rheumatologist. The Rheumatologist I have to say isn't the least bit interested in my overheating / sweating as long as I am mobile he is happy enough. I certainly aren't.
