Just wondering if anyone has been refused a flu jab this year despite always having one previously? My daughter has asthma and had heart surgery as a baby. She recently moved to Hampshire but previously lived in Wales, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. All previous doctors have given her a flu jab as she was considered at risk. Her new doctor has now decreed despite her asthma and heart condition she is not eligible for a free NHS jab.
Anyone know how we appeal this appalling decision?
Request another appointment with a different doctor at your practice and ask for a second opinion.
If it applies, quote this to them from NHS Choices: "The injected flu vaccine is offered free of charge on the NHS to anyone with a serious long-term health condition, including:
chronic (long-term) respiratory diseases, such as asthma (which requires an inhaled or tablet steroid treatment, or has led to hospital admission in the past), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema or bronchitis"
If this doesn't apply then your daughter may not be eligible.
In this case, ASDA are offering flu jabs for £5.00.
