Hi everyone,

I’m 33 weeks yesterday and also had my second round of reduced movements also! (The first being last week)

Hospital have informed me as yesterday was the second lot of reduced movements, i’ll be needing a scan to check everything is okay further, but they can’t get me in till Tuesday coming.

I guess i’m asking if anyone else has been through something similar and give any advice/tips?

Thank you in advance!

I had my baby at 33+5 via emergency csection due to reduced movements (first time of experiencing that). I now have a healthy 8 month old 🙂 We never did find out why he wanted out that early!

Main piece of advice is don't panic, and make sure you have a packed hospital bag (I was only halfway through preparing mine!). Of course, your experience may be totally different but just be prepared. Hope all works out OK x

Hello,

Thank you for your message!

May I ask how they found out you’d needed an emergency c-section? Did you have a scan or anything?

Thank you!

I'd had reduced movements that evening and the hospital told me to come in after I'd tried a few things that didn't work (eat a snack, cold drink etc). They put me on a fetal heart rate monitor and decided there and then to do the section. An hour later there he was! Baby was diagnosed with a pleural effusion (fluid in the chest) at the 20 week scan so I was having regular checks and scans anyway before the reduced movements

I don’t think I’d be waiting til Tuesday to be seen you should demand to go in even if it isn’t a scan just a fetal heartbeat monitor. I didn’t have reduced movements during my pregnancy but my friend did at 33 weeks ish and her baby was born by emergency section too xx

I went three times for reduced movements. I blame mine on an anterior placenta. Had my son spontaneously at 38+3. I’d say just follow your gut and always get checked. They don’t mind. Last time I went because it was more than once and I was 37 weeks they offered induction which is standard policy just so you’re aware it took mr by surprise! Good luck with everything.

Hi! I had to contact the hospital several times about my reduced movements during my pregnancy and it was always fine (they checked once in triage for the heartbeat and once I went in for a scan too). You should definitely get it checked every time but I found that with my lo her movements just never got to be consistent. Either that or I was more aware of them some times than others depending on how busy I was etc.

I also remember that on the hottest days she would barely move during the day but if I would go into a place with air con she would start to move lots. Never knew why.

Oh and also once she moved lots at night... and then I didn't feel her at all in the day. That's when I went for the scan. They said it could be because she was so active that night she then was resting during the day.

She is a healthy awesome 11 months baby with lots of energy now.

Please don't read this like 'don't get it checked it's probably fine' because some times it is and sometimes it isn't and it's important to check it asap but just to let you know that there isn't always the clear consistency we expect.

I also has reduced movements and got induced at 36 weeks. Leading up to it I had weekly scans which then went to 3x a week monitoring of movements and heart beat. I wasn't prepared at all. I would definitely push for a scan even if you go private x
