Hello, I had polyhydramnios from about 24weeks, mine was very extreme though and my fluid levels had to be reduced. Have they mentioned this as an option yet? I believe it can happen in 1% of pregnancies. Our daughter had an extremely rare condition, and her chest was very small, so she wasn't swallowing the fluid like babies normally would whilst in utero. Have any abnormalities shown up on your scans or in blood tests? I hope you're not too uncomfortable x

Hi Andrea,

I'm in a very similar situation. I'm 32 weeks and have severe polyhydramnios. They don't want to do amnio reduction due to risk of going in labour, but I'm in-patient for over a week now. They've seen a small stomach on the scan and suspect the same swallowing issue as your little girl has.

I was wondering whether you could tell a bit about your labour, what happened after and how you and your little girl are doing. The doctors here can't tell me much. Thanks!

Sorry for the delayed reply, I guess you're about 36weeks now. Did they let you come home? I ended up having 3amnio reductions as the amount of fluid was effecting my breathing. Is was a risk of early labour but that never happened. I was induced at 39 weeks as they felt I'd gone far enough. My little girl had an extremely rare case and sadly passed away because of her issues. Have you found out anymore?x

No worries. Thanks for replying and I'm so sorry to hear your little girl has passed away. I spent over two weeks in hospital with a very uncomfortable bump, until my body couldn't stretch any further and the pressure broke my waters. Three hours later my baby boy was born. He had surgery to fix esophageal atresia (stomach connected to wind pipe, food pipe was a dead end). He spent three weeks on NICU before being discharged. Today he's 4 weeks old and they say he'll recover completely.

Oh thank you for replying. I'm so pleased to hear this! Its amazing what they can do. That was a long time in hospital especially in our current times, I hope you were OK. Sounds like a quick labour, are you feeling OK now? Congratulations again xxx

Thanks, it was a long time in hospital, but I think it was the best place to be. I felt safe and the staff was amazing. Would be more worried if I were at home.

And I feel great. The moment my water broke the pressure was gone which was such a relief. Of course labour was painful, but after that I only felt a bit sore. Staff couldn't believe I just gave birth, because I didn't look rough and exhausted 😂. And that hasn't changed since. Lost 90% of my pregnancy weight in the first week too, so I can consider myself extremely lucky I think.
