Help on contraception dates please?

Hi all, looking for some advice on when I conceived. I found out I am pregnant and working it out from the first day of my last period which was 16th August would make me just over 12 weeks. I went for a scan on 10th Nov and she said baby is measuring at 10 weeks 2 days which has baffled me a bit. Cut a long story short could I have conceived this baby on 9th September?

As you might have heard, we usually ovulate 2 weeks after period. So it could be any date after 6of Sep.

Thanks for that but working back 10 weeks and 2 days comes out at the 6th September so surely it'd have to be just before the 6th?

No one can tell you for sure. Measurements are average growth. Your baby might be growing quicker/slower. Not all babies are the same. In the end it's just a educated guess by your sonographer. The same goes for edd(estimated due date). They cannot tell exactly when you gonna deliver.

They use the first day of your last period as a guide line. They use the actual date as how big your baby is measuring on your 13 weeks scan. My first day was the 2nd of July, by the growth and size of our baby, I conceived 29th June. Which was after I had ovulated. They'll use your 10 week scan as guide line until you go for your 13 week scan. Sorry I haven't been much help! X

Can I ask what difference it makes on which day you conceived?? If it's a matter of paternity you can't tell if you had intercourse with two people close to each other and you should get a paternity DNA test as that is the only 100% way to know

Yes that is the reason. I only had sex with someone different on 9th and have been having sex with the same person for months.

The baby is really tiny even at 12 weeks, a mm here or there can make days worth of difference. I always measured small but my potential conception date was literally just one day! But the dates never matched up. If you have regular periods then you can work out your ovulation period and that's the most likely time you conceived. If there's 2 potential people within your ovulation period then I'm afraid there is absolutely no way of telling which one it would be, no matter what the date on the scan says.
