Hi all, so 4 months into postpartum & I’m going through the worst hair loss, hair was so nice and thick before but now it’s thinned down and so much comes out each day when I even run my hands through my hair 😞 it feels really weak. I have read that this does settle down by a year however is there anything anyone has tried to improve hair health and stop hair loss and to improve the thickness and condition of hair? Any tips would be most helpful, thanks all 🙏

postpartum hair loss
I've not had my baby yet but experienced similar hair loss because of IVF treatment, after ovarian stimulation. It is due to oestrogen in your system plummeting postpartum or after stims. Mine settled down after I was on oestrogen tablet (6mg then 8mg daily) for the embryo transfer and hair almost stopped falling. So I'm expecting the same to happen after labour, and not excited about the hair loss part! Maybe speak to GP to see if they could prescribe oestrogen at all? Not sure.
I had my hair cut to chin length and went darker in colour after I lost quite a bit of hair. It didn't really help with the loss, but having a good tidy up and going darker made it look thicker and hide the loss and after now my kids are 2 and 4, my hair looks much better now.
I started having effervescent collagen tablets shortly after my second son was born which I think helped with my hair loss - it didn’t seem quite so bad this time around as it did with my first! Also found it helped with my skin and nails as I lost those good pregnancy hormones!
I know the feeling. Sucks big time. I never found the remedy to this one, I was told to continue taking my prenatal vitamins.
Sorry you had that... In case that you still have this problem - I had the same situation 4-5 months into postpartum. In few months I had twice less hair than before my pregnancy. This collagen and biotin supplement amazon.com/Biotin-Vitamins-... saved me, though it took more than 4 months to finally recover. But you should definitely consult a doctor first, because you may have another reason than mine 🤗
