Is the actual stool hard? Is there any bleeding? Is he pooping regularly? If the stool isn't hard and liquid like most baby poo there isn't much you can do about it. If he's formula fed make sure you're doing the formula right and it's not too thick (but you shouldn't water it down). If he is constipated probably best bet is to see gp as they can prescribe some meds. I read once somewhere (can't remember where) that an ounce of apple juice can help, but def not something I'd give regularly to such a small baby.

I breastfeed him and top him up with formular but not all the time, his stools are actually hard.

How regularly is your baby going? It is normal for their faces to go quite red when they go for a poo and it can look quite uncomfortable for them but if you're waiting a few days in between poos and your baby is getting quite upset then my GP suggested offering water in between feeds to help. You need to boil it first and allow it to cool before putting it in a bottle. He suggested offering around 3oz per day. My lo was 6 weeks old when j asked. Good luck!

Hi If he is straining and the stool is hard go and see the Gp and Health visitor right away. Both my children suffered constipation and my 18 month old is still being treated. Our health visitor was very clear that constipation needs to be dealt with. The last thing you want is for him to become impacted!

The gp will probably give you lactilose my two started with constipation as babies and gradually went onto movicol. It was so bad they both ended up with anal fissures and my daughter went a and e cps she was bleeding a lot in her nappy because of it. If it hard and your baby is struggling get to gp or out of hours

Yeah I saw the GP I was told to give him a little bit of orange juice since warm water wasn't working.

what milk is he on? Maybe not agreeing with him? Try boiled water leave it cool and give it to him, could help flush his body. Hope he’s ok! Poor little thing ☹️ They don’t half go through some stuff when they come into the world. Aww, he could also have a lot of wind built up! Make sure you wind him after every feed. Mention it to the midwife see what she suggests. X
