Hi ladies, I'm 15 + 4 was just making dinner when I suddenly felt faint, sick, and shaky. I just sat down, still shaking, and feel a bit sick. Is this normal? And any idea y it just suddenly came on? X

I never really stand still for long and wasnt then, I was still walking about the kitchen but felt really ill all of a sudden. I just drank 2 bottles of water and feeling a bit better now, although dont feel like eating my dinner :(

I haven't been drinking much lately so maybe a lack of fluids is causing my bp to drop.

Thanks for your reply x

Yes, as you mentioned i think it was just a sudden drop in your BP.

I feel like this some days as i may not have eaten much on that day "or somerhing" but in general its fine

I suffered from 2nd trimester faintness on a few occasions - I posted about it here and discovered its really common.

Be sure to eat regularly and snack (healthily, obviously ;-) ) between meals and stay hydrated. If you feel a dizzy spell coming on sit down before you fall down!

It's usually nothing to worry about and you should grow out of it soon - from memory I think I was 18 weeks the last time I had a funny turn - but do ring your midwife if you're concerned, or if the episodes are very frequent and she'll be able to advise you best.

Take care, I hope you don't suffer too badly x

Fainting and dizziness can be normal during pregnancy. I felt like this on many occasions. Just make sure you get enough rest, hydration and electrolytes, especially in the heat. Also make sure you look after your diet in case you became iron deficient. Last but not least check your blood pressure. It would be good to drop by your GP or walk into a Boots and ask the pharmacist to check it for you.

Thanks for all your replys. Well I'm seeing the midwife at end of week for my 16 week appt so shel b doing my bp then I assume? I'll mention it to her but its the first time its happened, just took me by suprise more than anything, I feel fine today... Although I'm having bloods done later as they could not do the NS scan at my 12 week so I'm having the second trimester bloods test for downs. I never feel too good after bloods so I'm drinking plenty b4 them today. X
