hi everyone, I need a little advise please 🙂

I really haven’t been well since January went to the doctors as I just didn’t feel right my muscles were hurting to the point I couldn’t walk properly or get out of a seated position very well came out in so many different rashes to they did some bloods and my esr and crp Levals were slightly raised they referred me to rheumatology and after 5 months of my symptoms getting worse and being on naproxen which didn’t work for me I got to see my rheumatologist they did more bloods and tests and I also kept a photo diary of all my symptoms and noticed Myositis on the blood test request I was just wondering how long does it take for bloods to come back and what the next step will be as I’m in so much pain.

How quickly the bloods come back depends on the local lab, it could be a few weeks to 6 weeks. The myositis blood test checks for the known antibodies for myositis and, if positive, can narrow down which form and hence best treatment. If it comes back positive then they may run a MRI (checks muscle status on a more global basis) and possibly a muscle biopsy (checks muscles on a microscopic level). If it comes back negative it does not eliminate myositis as, in very rare cases, it can occur without an identified antibody. As there are many possible illnesses which cause the symptoms you describe your rheumatologist has to use a process of elimination to determine what you have, unfortunately this can take some time. As to treatment steroids are usually the first step in myositis treatment followed by immunosuppressants (methotrexate, Ritexumab, etc.) and steroid tapering (steroids usable long term has multiple bad side effects)
