B12 Injections: Hi I wonder if anyone can... - My MSAA Community
B12 Injections
I was on B12 injections for the better part of a year a couple of years ago they weren't too bad just had to get them fairly often for a while , at least not in the stomach anymore
I just finished a round of B12 injections, I was in a flare when I was doing them, and they didn't seem to effect it, other than having a sore spot where the injection site was. I'm on sublingual B12 every day now. If you can, get the vanishing point needles, the needle, when you are done with your injection, pops up into the syringe, so you don't have to deal with it. Much safer, imho. 🧡
I’ve used b12 injections 1x per mos. for yrs because of low b12 and GI symptoms with the pills. Not a fan of the injections (ouch) but less pain than some of the DMT injections.
I had B12 injections for 3 years (a schedule that moved from daily, to weekly, then monthly); upper arm. The very fine needle used was as close to painless as these things can be. The trick was in completely relaxing my arm. Tense up, and it hurts a bit. It did not cause a flare or reaction for my TGN. (I'm a wuss and could not self inject but found my pharmacist or neighbor to do it.)
I have PPMS and once a month I am given a B12 shot and Iron infusion and so far, no problems.
This is interesting timing! 12 - 15 years ago I used to do B-12 inj daily, then weekly and eventually monthly until my test came back very high and I stopped. I never had any problems and did my own injections.
I had some bloodwork done for something else and met with my PCP yesterday. My B-12 level is down on the low end of normal so she wants me to add a supplement. I hadn't thought of B-12 levels in years and was pleasantly surprised to see it discussed here. Thank you all. :-}
Hi, I suppose the point really is why were you initially having/doing injections? If you have an absorption problem that would not have gone away, or very rarely - B12 level in the blood will be high if having injections, but it doesn't mean you can use any of it. You need it in the cells and functional which is a rather different matter. An oral supplement may raise your blood level but may well not resolve any damage. I'm afraid that B12 deficiency (and Bs generally) are underlooked and severity of potential damage vastly unappreciated (as well as the huge range of possible symptoms, which are often attributed to an unidentified or misidentified 'something else'). We should all be discussing Bs more, in my opinion! Cheers
Years ago I got b12 injections mid calf for several months. No prblems.
