extreme pain

I'm not much help, because (knock on wood) I seldom get pain. When I do, I've found that smearing myself with Icy-Hot eases it enough for me to sleep, but that won't work for extreme pain or if you have to be out and about. Have you talked to your neurologist about this? He might be able to prescribe some sort of as-needed pain killer.
I am so sorry you are in such pain. I suggest you speak with your Neurologist.
Ibuprofen helps me. Leslie
Call your neurologist as soon as they open and tell them that you are in extreme pain.
Please reach out to your neurologist. They can probably help you or guide you to those who can. Saying a prayer for you.
One thing that I have learned the hard way is that leg pain and heaviness is not always from our beloved MS. I kept blaming mine on my MS, for 6 weeks and finally got checked. I had a blood clot in my lung. We tend to always assume that EVERYTHING is because we have this disease, but we can have other problems too. But believe me, it could just be ms also. Please keep us posted. 🥰
In 2007 I had bag pain in my left leg. Saw my Neuro and he said that it wasn't MS and sent me to the hospital for a stat ultra sound and it was a DVT and I was admitted to the hospital. I believe I was in the hospital for a week. Not everything is MS when we experience pain...learned that the hard way.
There must be a med that can help!
Hi, I’m so sorry you are going through this. I have had pain so bad in my right leg and back that it has landed me in the emergency room twice. It was so bad I was in tears, trying Lamaze breathing, and in constant tears. Those stupid MS lesions are so evil! I’m a little unclear. Is most of your pain in your face? For me, my Neurologist gave me several shots of Botox directly into the effected muscles. I got almost immediate relief. I believe this can be done in any muscle but I’m not sure. It isn’t a permanent solution, but it was a lifesaver for me. An ER Doc also injected lidocaine into my muscles when the pain came back. Other than that Tramadol really helps me as well as Tizanadine. It’s been a month since my last trip to the ER and I’m doing better now. Although I have a hard time following this advice- staying away from extra sugar and salt makes me feel better too. Pain is the worst part of MS for me. So sorry you’re going through this. I wish you a speedy recovery😅
I also have extreme pain in both legs with a heavy feeling. I had to find a pain doctor that wasn't an ass, which took a while, and then they started me on a regimen for my neuropathic pain and my musculoskeletal pain. It all starts with a referral from your neurologist so that would be your first step. I hope you get help soon. I know how terrible the pain is and how it affects your whole life.
Since it's that bad, call your neuro to make sure it is an MS thing.
Definitely get in touch with your neurologist! If you're able to, take cocodamol (codeine & paracetamol in one pill). I know in the UK you can buy a pack of low dose codeine ones over the counter, so you wouldn't need a prescription for it. Get yourself a massage gun as well to help with the pain in your legs, because I've found it tends to be muscles cramping, and my husband doesn't quite know how deep he should go 🫂
I have always wondered if the massage guns help. My back has constant, excruciating pain and other than getting injections every three weeks I have tried every thing under the sun. CBD cream is my best friend! 🤣🤣 I will try to get a massage gun soon, now that I have heard how much success it has been for you! Thank you!!
I agree with others. Your neurologist or primary should be keeping record of location, how new is this. There is much pain medication but getting to the cause and second opinion is also important. Don’t just listen to one but try to see if it is consistent. Hope find treatment with good results. Listening too your body is important. Feel better with positive results.
