Just a rant: I lost my paper script for my pain management, and now have to live with the nerve pain until my next monthly visit. Because of course that's what it says in the onerous "pain mangement agreement" that I was coerced into signing. The one that is only to protect them, not me. The one with no language that gives me any rights at all. The one that makes me terrified that I might do or say something that will make them cut me off. The one that treates me like a criminal, even though the only thing I've done wrong is have neuropathic pain. How can they even call it an "agreement?" How can you legally agree with anything when you're in debilitating pain, and they can withold the only relief? Isn't there a name that starts with t and ends with e and is outlawed in all of the civilized world?

Pain management these days
U can’t get another rx from ur dr? Is there a reason that the dr doesn’t just send the rx directly to them?
Hi rjoneslaw,
No, they will not because they want to ensure that people don't just say that they lost it, and then take extra or sell to others. I do understand why they have these agreements to protect themselves, but at the same time, they make no exceptions, as far as I know, and they wind up punishing innocent people who are suffering. Also, they will not send an Rx in to the pharmacy. You have to pick up a paper one every month, and then go to the pharmacy in person with it. You can't even have your husband or wife pick it up for you.
Thanks for replying, though. I don't undertand why, but it helps.
What country are you living in? Or if you are in USA, what state?
Hiya, BigMar7 - I live in PA. Is there a reason you ask? It wouldn't be in connection to MMJ, would it? I've had a card since Feb and about 8 or 9 different strains in my cupboard. None of it helps. 😢 It's not even fun like it was back in the 70s when I was a kid. Just makes me more confused than MS already does, and some even makes me anxious. Isn't that a rich irony, that I DON'T even WANT to get high? I just want the pain to stop.
Sorry if that wasn't where you were going. I guess banging on the keyboard is something I do way too much in this state. Anyone who is finding this tedious, go make a sandwich. I'll still be here when you get back. 💦
Hey joaneybaloney, I was a bit irate you couldn’t get your prescription and that’s why I asked. Then I read what other people posted and realized you were talking about a controlled drug. And I don’t know what MMJ is. I would think your doctor could write another script, it’s not that you do make a habit of losing it. Anyway hope you are feeling as good as you can. 😀❤️
So sorry you have to endure even more pain because our health care system can be so messy☹️ The system is trying to prevent abuse but you're caught in the crossfire.☹️ That just sucks. I've had a similar experience not for pain meds but for another controlled substance I was using for MS. I would feel like a criminal and it was too much hassle I just quit using it. I know you're a strong person and I pray you'll find a way to hold on until you get some relief 🙏☺️
That’s crazy. The one my wife had to sign is setup so I and my son can pick up prescriptions and fill them at pharmacy for her. The pain specialist actually will write her three months of prescriptions and we take them to pharmacy and they just put them on file. Can’t be filled till exactly the right date. This works out great cause I can pick them up for her 👍. 🙏🐾🎃😉 Ken
I'm sorry you're caught in the new system. It may help prevent some abuse of the system, but it sure does hurt (literally) those who are in situations like yours.
You're in our thoughts and prayers for getting through this month.
yep i am 62 yrs old still recovering from the big c plus my m.s and yrs of working in construction if any body needs some pain pills its us who hafta beg for them its nuts and the greed is rampart every 30 days got to go thru same nonsense i could buy them on the street alot less hassle down in fl you have to go thru so much its crazy background check pee test office visits all 50 bucks each before i can even get to walgreens then just about have to give dna
How long have you got to go before you can get your refills?
Ask your pharmacist. In many instances there is a 2-3 day latitude at their discretion.
MN is the same way except you can’t ever just pick up a script - need to be seen...either every month (if a change in dosage/quantity) or every 2 months if same. ..no early refills no matter the reason. Walgreens can’t have a script that is day a b4 the refill is due in the store. Makes it tough when you can’t drive or are going out of town...but have always figured out it...just sux @ the last minute. Hope you are ok -Kris
Neurologists are rarely interested in your day to day pain. Your situation magnifies this shortfall. That, and the DEA, has lead to under treatment of pain. I was just told that I would have to sign an agreement to get a refill of a pain medication I have been on for 16 years. It’s beyond ridiculous, but neurologists are scared of the DEA and believe that entity should dictate the doctor patient relationship. Maybe the enforcers at the DEA and neurologists should face chronic pain for 16 years.
YES! The pain management procedure that requires a urine specimen to prove that you HAVE taken the medicine instead of selling it on the street is INSULTING! I fully endorse your rant!
