hi. i am hoping someone can help. my physical disability with MS is bad enough, but it is the exhaustion that keeps me from being able to work. I can only handle typing for an hour before my fingers are too worn out to continue and my body is tired. I have to lay down for at least an hour or two to recover. Does anyone have any recommendations to increase our stamina?

M.S. fatigue can be so debilitating. As you point out, sometimes you just have to give in to it and rest. As far as increasing stamina, are you able do any exercise to keep your muscle strength? Even seated stretches can make a big difference in muscle tone. There is lots of info online and on youtube with instructional videos for chair yoga, low impact stretches you can do from a chair or sitting on the floor. It is so important to keep your muscles moving, and even though it might sound counter-intuitive, a little exercise can really help with fatigue.
I try to set aside time, on the days I feel up to it, to sit and stretch even for ten or fifteen minutes, and it helps me feel more energized. There are days when I don't feel like stretching, but if I force myself to do it, I always feel better afterwards. Hope this helps 😊
Hi! MS fatigue is the worst! I changed medicines and that has helped. I agree with Helpmeup totally! Exercise is the best thing to do to keep up your stamina. I do chair yoga. It sounds silly but it really works! There is also a wonderful teacher named Gretchen Hawley. She has videos on YouTube. They have helped me greatly! I hope you find something that works for you! Exercising doesn’t take the fatigue away, but it sure helps it! Keep moving
There is usually someone who mentions Dr. Aaron Boster. He has a way with explaining all things MS. I just watched this video youtube.com/watch?v=X53D6mY...
If you watch it you will get an idea of what he is does and decide if you want to search his videos for what you want to learn about. Best of luck to you.
I have heard that exercise can help. I need to take my own advice as my legs are getting weaker.
Like Helpmeup said, it’s counterintuitive but doing some exercise helps with the fatigue. I’ve had MS 25+ years and have tried different meds for it. None worked for me well enough to be worthwhile. It might be different for you. Please confer with your neuro.
